Join us on October 10 at 11:00 a.m. for “A Small Look Back: Some Ancestry, an American Revolution, and on to Kankakee,” a presentation exploring the connections between family history, the American Revolution, and the development of Kankakee County.
Follow the journeys of Dutch, German, French, and Belgian ancestors as they migrated to America and eventually moved westward. The presentation highlights families including the Small, Southard, Lennington, Van Meter, and DuBois families, along with the Dutch-American communities, businesses, churches, and families that helped shape the Kankakee area.
Discover how genealogy and local history come together through family stories, historic research, photographs, maps, newspapers, and museum collections. There is no charge to attend, though donations are appreciated. Refreshments will be provided, and online RSVP is encouraged.
