Come Walk With Us: The Theatres of Downtown Kankakee

Step behind the scenes and experience the rich history of two of downtown Kankakee's most iconic entertainment venues on Tuesday, August 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Join the Kankakee County Historical Society for an exclusive guided walking tour featuring the Classic Cinemas Paramount Theatre, which opened in 1931, and Majestic Weddings & Events, originally built as the Remington Theatre in 1912.

Your journey begins at the Paramount Theatre, where you'll explore areas rarely seen by the public, including the main projection booth, auditorium, stage, basement, and the projection booth in the adjoining building. From there, the tour will cross Schuyler Avenue to the beautifully restored Majestic building, where you'll discover the fascinating history of the former Remington Theatre and relive the movie-going experience once enjoyed during its Town Cinema days.
